According to The Free Dictionary, Earth Science is, by definition, any of the sciences that deal with the Earth or its parts. The study of earthquakes, hurricanes, erosion, water, volcanoes, etc. all fall into the Earth Science category. Students are introduced to Earth Science in small segments in elementary schools across Georgia. Beginning in 2005, all sixth grade students will study Earth Science as the main focus for the entire school year. The Earth Science portion of this website is intended to provide teachers and students resources for teaching and understanding the concepts and principals that drive geologists around the world on a regular basis.
